Please keep in mind that when you install a router in your home, Laurel Highland Total Communications is no longer the Internet Service Provider (ISP). The router takes the connection from us and it gives out its own IP addresses. Essentially the router becomes the Internet Service Provider. Although we will try to help you fix your problem, if it is found that the router is the problem you will need to call a network repair service to have it fixed.
Nine times out of ten, a network connection problem with a router installed is cause by the router. Any router less than $200-$300 is considered to be a "Throw-Away" piece of equipment. Companies do not put adequate memory in these routers causing them to freeze up from time to time.
There are a few ways to tell if the problem is with your router
- You can go to some websites but not others
- Pages are loading unusually slow
- You have no connection at all
The first step in troubleshooting is to unplug the power from the router, wait about 15 seconds then plug it back in.
Once the router is fully powered up, restart the computer. It will aquire a new IP address from the router.
If the above doesn't fix the problem, you will have to call technical support at 724-455-0036
